Fire at Far South Side landfill controlled
Firefighters responded at 6:30 a.m. to a blaze at a landfill at 2000 E. 122nd St. and discovered a fire in a generator fed by methane and, as a precaution, a Level 1 Hazardous Materials response was initiated at 6:40 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richardo Rosado.
