Chicago Public Schools announced plans earlier this year to phase out the Andersen Elementary program because of low enrollment and replace it with a curriculum based on La Salle Language Academy. La Salle, a magnet school in Old Town, offers Chinese, Italian, Spanish, French and German. Andersen now offers a Spanish-intensive language program that focuses on Latino countries and culture.
