Fullerton late last year and they are hoping to open shop sometime in 2009. Co-op president Scott Althoff said the group still is working on getting incorporated as a nonprofit food co-op and they are still signing up members.

    For the last several weeks the co-op has set up shop at the Logan Square Farmers Market Sunday afternoons at the corner of Kedzie and Milwaukee. Gajus Miknaitis, a co-op organizer, said that in July the market was hit with a massive rainstorm that resulted in the co-op's tent blowing over. Despite the weather setback, he said the group has signed up a few dozen new shareholders.

  • 2901 W Armitage Ave Spanish Cobra murdered on Campbell

    An armed robbery occurred on the 2900 block of W. Armitage at 12:15 a.m. on June 21, police reports say. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was leaving FoodSmart, a grocery store at 2901 W. Armitage, when a man about his age approached him and demanded he turn over his money. The offender then bit the victim on the arm and grabbed his wallet from his pocket, the report says. The offender made off with some $4000 in cash and a payroll check for an estimated $200, the report says. The victim told police he'd seen the offender hanging out in front of the store in the past. At the time of the report, no arrests had been made.
