A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Saturday on the Northwest Side after reportedly falling onto the track. Emergency crews were sent just before 8 a.m. Devon and Lehigh avenues. A woman at the scene who suffered a minor leg injury was taken to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center in good condition, fire officials said. Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said the train hit and killed a pedestrian at the Edgebrook station.

Woman fatally stuck by Metra train
A Metra train fatally struck a woman Monday night near the Edgebrook station on the Northwest Side. As of 8:30 p.m. Milwaukee District North Train No. 2151 remains stopped near the station, because of the incident, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said. Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor said a woman was struck by the train near North Central and North Lehigh avenues. The fire department did not transport the woman to the hospital, and handed over the investigation to Chicago police.

James DeCaluwe, 48, of the 6200 block of North Legett Avenue was convicted in December in Skokie of aggravated kidnapping, attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint of the teenage boy in November 2004. He received 15 years for unlawful restraint and 6 years each for the other two convictions, said Assistant State's Atty. Cathy Crowley.
