According to police reports, on March 19 at 1:30 a.m., Edward Smith, 54, of 310 E. 132nd Place boarded a CTA bus near 631 S. Michigan while intoxicated and caused a disturbance. A man on the bus suggested that Smith calm down, but he refused and then went "berserk," and started striking the man repeatedly in the face and causing lacerations. After the incident, Smith tried to exit the bus, but a bystander intervened and subdued him by wrestling him to the ground. Smith was arrested and charged with battery.
