The firm earlier this year closed offices in north suburban Lake Forest and far south suburban Crete, after late last year closing offices at 2015 W. Irving Park Road and 4950 N. Harlem Ave., both in the city. No other closings are planned.

Fertile ground
To this end is Moss' work on St. Monica Academy, at Foster and Harlem Avenues. The school's two asphalt parking lots are being converted to pervious concrete, which allows water to circulate. The lots are surrounded by bioswales, landscape elements filled with native plantings that absorb runoff and recharge ground water instead of sending it to the sewer.

Cardinal George Touts Green Catholic Schools
Chicago Cardinal Francis George wants the city's catholic schools to become more environmentally friendly. George spoke yesterday at Saint Monica Academy on the northwest side. The school has partnered with the Chicago Botanic Garden to design an environmental curriculum. George says the program will have a lasting effect on students.
