Carl McCoy, 29, of the 8000 block of South Eberhart Avenue was charged with first-degree murder Monday, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks.

McCoy is suspected of killing Woodrow Culverson, who was shot Aug. 30 in the 6600 block of South King Drive, police said. McCoy was allegedly seen fleeing the scene in the victim’s car after the shooting, according to Banks.

Culverson, of the 5300 block of South Wallace Street, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 10:09 p.m. on Aug. 30 after the shooting at 6640 S. King Dr., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
