    Roberto Barrera, 42, with a last known address in the 2100 block of S. Fairfield St., is wanted for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, according to a release from the FBI. He allegedly fled the state in late 2001 after being charged with first-degree murder.

    A neighbor of 62-year-old Samuel Gardner called 911 at 10:33 p.m. after the neighbor heard someone fall in Gardner’s apartment at 7531 S. Morgan St. Responding officers who were checking on him found the man lying on the floor bleeding from the face, according to police.

  • 5100 block of North Leavitt Cops fatally shoot knife-wielding man

    Tarek El-Hila, 30, of the 5100 block of North Leavitt, was shot multiple times at his home and was pronounced dead at 10:06 p.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. An autopsy is scheduled for  Friday.
