    A few readers have asked if there's any information about the empty building at 5145 Broadway that most recently was home to the Haitian Church of God. According to a sign out front, it now houses both the "Tabernacle of Praise" and the "Northside Church of God."

    With its announcement Tuesday, the postal service served notice that it no longer has a long-term contract with Walton Street Capital to redevelop the site at 433 W. Van Buren. Walton Street, whose partners include prominent developer Neil Bluhm, has been involved with the building since 1999.

    Upon arriving at the market at 6100 S. Blackstone, I saw a place quieter and more secluded than other farmers markets in Chicago and filled with fresh smells. Tomato season was under way and they were slicing them for tastes. I walked by the stands and said hello and got big smiles.
