Prosecutors: Man accused of killing wife to cover up rape
In what prosecutors called a video-recorded confession, Brewer said he drove to his house in the 3700 block of West Belden Avenue and took the children inside. Brewer said Powe drove away with Collier-Brewer in the trunk to an unknown location and shot her.

Prosecutors: Man accused of killing wife to cover up rape
On Monday night Brewer reported to police that he had not seen Collier-Brewer since early that morning and that he had spotted his wife's car in an alley behind the 2200 block of North Tripp Avenue. Police found her body in the trunk. She had been shot twice in the head.

One dead, one wounded in shooting outside West Side party
The men were shot about 3:45 a.m. outside in the 4200 block of West Cermak Road. The men were leaving a party when they got into an altercation with somebody who allegedly shot both of them with a handgun, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

At about 9:30 p.m., police responded to calls of shots fired near 62nd Street and Woodlawn Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer. Police found the victim with a gunshot wound to his thigh, Greer said.

Brewer and his brother, Dujuan D. Powe, 20, planned to meet at a gas station at 59th and Elizabeth. Early Monday, Brewer drove his Chevy Monte Carlo to the station and his brother approached wearing a mask from the movie "Scream," prosecutors said.

Man charged in murder of his wife
Brewer drove to his home, where he and his children got out, prosecutors said. Powe continued to the 2200 block of North Tripp, where he shot Collier-Brewer twice in the head, left her in the trunk and abandoned the car, Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jodi Peterson said.
