Elgin man ordered held in shooting
Victim was shot in foot, police say
Bail was set Tuesday at $750,000 for an Elgin teenager charged in a gang-related shooting last week that wounded a man in the foot, police said.
Diego Mascote, 18, of the 300 block of North Street was charged Monday with attempted murder and aggravated battery. Bail was set at a hearing in the Elgin branch of Kane County Circuit Court, said Ann Dinges, Elgin police spokeswoman.
Mascote is charged with shooting a 21-year-old Elgin man about 3:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Gifford Street, police said. The victim was treated and released.
