A Ford Heights man has been charged after allegedly leading police on a chase after attempting to rob a man at gunpoint in front of an off-duty Chicago Police officer early Saturday on the South Side. James Villareal, 24, of south suburban Ford Heights, was charged Saturday with attempted armed robbery, attempted vehicular hijacking, aggravated assault and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to a release from police News Affairs. The man was taken into police custody near the shoulder of the Dan Ryan, after dropping his gun and once again attempting to flee on foot. |
