See the winners in BOMA/Chicago's 2008 TOBY Awards

(Crain's) — The Hyatt Center at 71 S. Wacker Drive won the 2008 award as BOMA/Chicago's Office Building of the Year in the category for buildings of more than 1 million square feet.

303 W. Madison won in the 250-499,000 sq. ft. category.
The Hyatt Center, which is managed by Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. and owned by Pritzker Realty Group, was one of seven buildings that won awards last week from BOMA/Chicago, a trade group that represents owners and managers of Chicago office buildings.

The awards are based on factors including the physical attractiveness of the building, its impact on the community, tenant relations and energy conservation. A total of 19 buildings entered in seven categories this year.

The winners, which were picked by a team of BOMA/Chicago members, will go on to a regional competition, with those winners competing for the international awards. The Board of Trade building won the most recent international award for historical building. The award was presented in June in Denver, and the building was recognized last week at the local awards dinner, which took place at the Palmer House Hilton and was attended by 320 people.

Jim Wissinger, vice-president of sales and marketing at ABM Lakeside Inc., won the Affiliate of the Year Award.

The Hyatt Center is a 1.47-million-square-foot building constructed in 2004 that's about 95% leased, according to real estate research firm CoStar Group Inc.

303 W. Madison St. won in the 250,000-to-499,000-square-feet category. The building is managed by CB Richard Ellis and owned by McMorgan Institute Real Estate Fund. 303 W. Madison is a 310,880-square-foot building constructed in 1984 and 87% leased, according to CoStar.
