An armed robbery occurred on the 2900 block of W. Armitage at 12:15 a.m. on June 21, police reports say. The victim, a 29-year-old man, was leaving FoodSmart, a grocery store at 2901 W. Armitage, when a man about his age approached him and demanded he turn over his money. The offender then bit the victim on the arm and grabbed his wallet from his pocket, the report says. The offender made off with some $4000 in cash and a payroll check for an estimated $200, the report says. The victim told police he'd seen the offender hanging out in front of the store in the past.
