According to police reports, on June 19 at 7:10 p.m. a Rhode Island man told police that after a verbal altercation between him and a Chicago man at the Union League Club, 65 W. Jackson, the Chicago man allegedly slapped him on the left side of his head with an open right hand. A witness told police he observed the verbal altercation, but that the victim ran toward the offender while he was having dinner before the alleged slap. Officers observed no visible signs of injury, but the Rhode Island man complained of neck pain. Police summoned an ambulance, but the victim refused medical treatment.
