News article details

According to police reports, a 67-year-old woman said she was trying to hail a taxi outside of Stroger Hospital when she unexpectedly met a woman wearing a black headband, a gray dress and sandals she knew from church ten years ago. She didn't know the woman's name but she accepted a ride in the woman's vehicle, which was driven by another woman wearing an off-white two-piece dress and sunglasses. The woman rode in the backseat alongside a third woman. At some point during the ride, the victim admitted to the other passengers that she had at least $15,000 in a bank account. The women then allegedly drove the victim to a bank located at 100 S. Wacker to withdraw the $15,000. The victim told police she could not remember details of the conversation that led to the decision to go to the bank. She told officers that the offenders said they would "destroy" her if she didn't get the money. A bank teller told police the woman appeared under duress when she withdrew the money. After the woman returned to the car and gave the money to the first offender, she was dropped off at the Walgreens near State and Roosevelt, where she contacted her son who drove her back to the bank and called police. Security video will be available and police will continue their investigation. Read the full article at the original source (Chicago Journal)…
