    A knock on a door Sunday in the 5000 block of West Gladys ended with a man being shot. Two suspects knocked about 8:20 a.m. and demanded to know whether they were owed money, said police news affairs Officer John Mirabelli. When they were told no, one of them pulled out a gun and shot the man, who was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition. They also took a woman's money, police said.

  • 1300 block of North Campbell Avenue Weekend Violence Leaves 7 Dead In City, Suburbs

    About 7:20 p.m. Friday, 35-year-old Juan Torres was found unresponsive on the street in the 1300 block of North Campbell Avenue with gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, police said. Torres was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital of Cook County at 7:50 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
