News article details
An assault occurred at Chicago Market Place, a small grocery at 1501 W. Chicago, at 4:14 p.m., May 1, police reports say. The victim, the store's 28-year-old owner, confronted a teenager about the unpaid-for candy bars he was holding in his fist, the report says. The teenager, unapologetic, ripped into the store owner: "I'm gonna beat your ass, mother------," he threatened. "I'm gonna have my daddy come up in here and do a twenty." The store owner understood the phrase "do a twenty" as slang for "murder," the report says. A second teenager joined in the threats, and both young men soon fled the store. Based on descriptions of the clothes the teenagers were wearing, including beige school uniform pants, police believe the offenders are students at Golder College Prep, 1454 W. Superior. At the time of the report, no arrests had been made. Read the full article at the original source (Chicago Journal)…
