Complicating any development of a new Costco is the fact that the medical district has already approved 14th and Ashland for a new 12th District police headquarters. The 12th District headquarters is currently located at 100 S. Racine.

At a commission meeting Tuesday, Sam Pruett, executive director of the medical district, said Department of Planning and Development Commissioner Arnold Randall requested moving the 12th District station to a site near Damen and Hastings, contingent on commission approval of the Costco on Ashland.
