Construction checkup: C/A 23
Snow aside, the work site at 23 N Aberdeen St in the West Loop doesn't look much different than it did during my first Joewalk back in February. There are some fresh tread tracks, a few new stacks of building materials, and a prominently placed port-a-potty, however, all of which suggest that work is moving along on The Brixton Group's C/A 23.

1010 West Monroe opts for symmetry, sun
Domus Group's 1010 West Monroe has come a long way since our last construction update, and it appears to be nearing completion. There was no marketing or sales info on site, and we haven't had any luck contacting a sales manager, but it didn't look like any of the condos were inhabited yet.

Cops: Robbery victim stabs assailants, killing 1
A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death and another teen wounded on the South Side overnight in what police said may have been a mugging gone awry. The incident occurred just before midnight Monday in the 7300 block of South Stony Island Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, police said. A 50-year-old man was fighting with two teens when he apparently fatally stabbed the 16-year-old in the chest and stabbed an 18-year-old in the thigh. The younger boy was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead early Tuesday, police said. The 18-year-old was listed in fair condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to the thigh. The weapon was recovered and the man was taken into custody at the scene. Detectives were questioning him Tuesday, but initial reports indicated the teens were trying to rob the man on the street when he resisted and a fight ensued, police said. No charges have been filed.

Gray skies and cheap shoes...
First thing, the sky is very gray--the weatherman says it may thunderstorm tonight. Secondly, the red and yellow advertisement on the bus stop bench at Clybourn and Ashland avenues indicates shoes can be had for $9.99. Lastly, Premium gas is $4.09 per gallon--and rising. I'm not even going to mention what else they are reporting on NPR this morning but I'll give you a hint; marshmallows and fairy dust are not in the week's forecast and traffic is, as always, unbearable.
