  • 1900 block of West Winona Street Teen accused of home invasion, attacking 2

    A Des Plaines teenager was charged Sunday with home invasion and two counts of attempted first-degree murder, Chicago police said.Julius Flournoy, 17, allegedly broke into an apartment in the 1900 block of West Winona Street at about 5:45 a.m. and used a knife to attack a sleeping couple, Officer John Mirabelli said.When police responded to the scene, they found Flournoy and took him into custody, police said.The male victim, 26, is in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the woman, 30, is in stable condition at the hospital. Police said they do not have a motive, but know that Flournoy was not related to the victims.

After selling two tickets to some fans, Davis walked over to Knight in the 700 block of South Michigan and handed him the proceeds, prosecutors said. Knight was about to give Davis two more tickets when police arrested the men. Davis was charged with a municipal ordinance violation.

    An Amber Alert was issued Monday for her three children, according to Illinois State Police. Fernando Casanova, 11, Karla Casanova, 7, and Oscar Casanova, 6, were taken from the 1800 block of North Richmond Street at about 2:30 p.m. Friday, state police said.The children might have been abducted by a relative, according to the alert.Fernando is described as 5 feet tall and 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Oscar is described as 4 feet tall and 60 pounds. Karla is about 4 feet tall and 75 pounds. The three children are Hispanic with brown hair and eyes, police said.The vehicle might be a 2002 silver or gray Dodge Dakota, police said.   • Hyde Park A Visit to Morsbach's Downstate Medici Location

    The food was pretty good, as was the selection of locally brewed beer, served from the capacious bar that Morsbach can't have on 57th Street. But the most delicious thing of all was the irony that less than 100 yards from the new Normal Medici, co-owned by one of the most vocal opponents of a proposed Hyde Park Marriott Hotel, is ongoing construction on a 9 story, 229 room Marriott Hotel, with attached 43,000 square foot conference center and 500 spot parking deck.
