An attempted robbery occurred on then 2900 block of W. North Ave. at 1:50 p.m. April 8, police reports say. The victim, a 20-year-old boy, was walking down the street when a man in black jacket and skull cap approached him. "Give me your money!" he demanded. The offender started to pat the victim down and steer him toward a nearby alleyway, but the boy resisted. As he started to run away, the would-be robber punched him in the jaw, but failed to stop him from running. The victim was able to escape with all his money.
