In the St. Xavier incident, Morgan Park police District Cmdr. Michael Kuemmeth would not say whether police think the person who scrawled "Be prepared to die on 4/14" was serious. The message was found in Regina Hall last Thursday, prompting university officials to call off school indefinitely. "Im gon killll," was also found scratched into a washroom stall in the same freshman dormitory on the university's main campus, 3700 W. 103rd St., on April 5.

A man sitting in a car with a known prostitute on the West Side was shot by a gunman who tried to rob him early Tuesday, Chicago Police said. The victim, 29, was shot multiple times and left the scene in critical condition. The woman was not harmed. Police said she has been arrested more than 80 times for prostitution and drugs. The two were in a car in the 700 block of South Kolmar in East Garfield Park when the gunman approached around 1 a.m.
