The victim, identified as Quincy Edwards, was found dead on the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 56th Street, police said. He had been shot in the head and body.

Another Logan Square Shooting Victim Dies
Jose Soberanis-Radilla, 36, of 2415 N. Monticello was pronounced dead at 2:18 p.m. Sunday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. He died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Another Logan Square Shooting Victim Dies
Michael Sanchez, 24, of 2500 block of North Linder Avenue, was charged Thursday with two counts each of first degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. Sanchez appeared in court Friday but Mirabelli had no information on his bond hearing.

ML Realty Partners LLC of Itasca recently closed on the purchase of the dilapidated seven-story factory at 401 N. Cicero Ave., which employed as many as 3,500 people in the late '80s but has stood vacant since Brach's closed it four years ago.

ML Realty pulled off a similar project roughly a mile north of the Brach's site. It led a venture that acquired an old Helene Curtis factory at 1401 N. Cicero in late 2003 and struck a deal to redevelop the property about 2˝ years later as a 209,000-square-foot distribution center for Coca-Cola Co. that employs 310.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., police got a call about a man underneath a Toyota in the 600 block of West Cornelia. When police arrived, Blissit allegedly tried to flee with the other three, who served as lookouts, and threw away a power saw that police said he was using to cut the converter from the car.

A Chicago firefighter rescued an elderly woman from a kitchen fire in a Mount Greenwood home Friday night. Officials said a lieutenant from Truck 59 found her unresponsive in a hallway at 10459 S. Hamlin. She was in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

DUI charges were filed against the driver of a van that crashed off the Dan Ryan Expy. in Chinatown early Saturday, killing a 19-year-old woman and injuring four other people. The driver, Emanuel A. Leyva, 27, of Chicago, lost control exiting at Cermak, and the van rolled over, ejecting and killing Maria Hernandez, of the 4400 block of South Wallace, State Police said.
