As CBS 2's Vince Gerasole reports, crews responded around 9:15 a.m. to a fire at the Emmanuel Temple Church, at 562 N. LeClaire Ave. By 11 a.m., most of the fire crews were cleaning up, although one crew was still battling a hot spot.

Interim Police Superintendent Dana Starks says the child was shot in the head, and the adult was shot and stabbed at the four-story apartment building at 4048 W. Division St. A second adult male was pistol-whipped.

Off-Duty Corrections Officer Killed In Crash
Police said the 41-year-old officer was on her way to work on the expressway around 11:15 p.m., traveling north in an express lane, when she lost control of her vehicle. She crashed into a pillar supporting the 47th Street overpass, then swerved back across the express lanes and struck a cement median that separated the express lanes from the CTA's Red Line tracks, Illinois State Police Trooper Mark Hall said.

The Walkmen started out as semi-indie hopefuls, but since their debut they’ve proved themselves beholden to no one’s expectations. Indeed, 2006 saw the release of not just their rootsy third album A Hundred Miles Off, but a track-by-track cover of the Harry Nilsson and John Lennon collaboration Pussy Cats, and for years the group has been threatening to complete its collectively written novel. Smith ruled fit to stand trial in deadly arson
During her hearing, Smith pled not guilty on all charges, but prosecutors said they had a videotape of Smith admitting to setting the 7 a.m. March 10 fire in a stairwell at 3553 N. Fremont that killed Jennifer Carlson, Jason Bowers, Jerod Pilgreen and Joseph Schultz, all in their 20s.
