Uptown's Tent City Homeless Face 'Disarray,' Uncertainty After Eviction
UPTOWN - Living under a dilapidated bridge doesn't guarantee you many things. What it did grant Uptown's tent city homeless was a concrete barrier from the elements. "It's definitely better under the viaducts. You don't have to worry about the rain. Out here, everything is different.

Huge Megamall Replacement Project Shrinks As XSport Fitness Drops Out

As far as construction goes, there's no official word on when crews will break ground. The massive site, which spans the 2500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, has sat empty since crews finished tearing down the Megamall in March.

Huge Megamall Replacement Project Shrinks As XSport Fitness Drops Out
LOGAN SQUARE - XSport Fitness is no longer included in the massive Megamall redevelopment. Terraco, the developer behind the $100 million project, was unable to finalize a deal with the gym, according to Paul Sajovec, chief of staff for Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd). It's unclear why the deal fell through.
    https://www.dnainfo.com

  • with any luck we will get a drive through dunkin doughnuts and some public housing

  • Tear it down for nothing? Really? The whole block was an eyesore in a complete state of disrepair. Blame the owners since 1920 and not the people who had to tear it down.
I'm not sure how great of a park it would make located right next to a high-speed portion of rail line, but luckily I don't think that a park is at all feasible. Something will be built eventually.

Fake $100 Bill Used At Taboo Tabou, Other Lakeview Businesses

The new Target-anchored apartment building at 3200 N. Clark St. was meant to help curtail the frequent robberies and burglaries in the area, serving as what Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) referred to as a catalyst for improved safety and development.

Fake $100 Bill Used At Taboo Tabou, Other Lakeview Businesses
LAKEVIEW - Taboo Tabou owner Alexis Thomas is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who turns in to police a couple who used a fake $100 bill at her store on Saturday. "They made these fake bills to show up real when you use the counterfeit pen," Thomas said.
    https://www.dnainfo.com

  • Sounds like the owner of the store wasn't hurt by the 100.00 if they can afford 1000.00 in reward money. Good luck proving the person who used the bill knew it was counterfeit. I'm glad they used it there were the staff are ignorant and the items are overpriced vs any of the other cheaper and friendlier shops in the area! Karma!

The Rev. Larry McNally, pastor of St. Matthias, first shared the news in a letter published in the weekly church bulletin.

  • Who did the piss off at the Archdiocese? This is Chicago - someone needs to re-open the negotiations and get the Archdiocese whatever they want.

  • Everyone should stop attending that church and school. Bet they would change their minds after their pockets aren't being lined anymore.
