Absolutely not. I worked on a hospital in the heart of Puerto Rican fest, and can tell you that this does NOT compare. The South Side parade can be an annoyance to the residents, due to the drunken people puking and urinating on private property. On the Puerto Rican parade day, most red lights and stop signs are blown through, with children riding on top of the roofs of cars while holding the Puerto Rican flag. I have x-rayed multiple children's heads due to that practice. Also, because of the Mexican / Puerto Rican rivalry, there are multiple fights with guns and knives.
Drunken fights do occur at the South Side parade when young men get their "beer muscles" but the do not carry weapons.
The parade needs to get back to it's original plan, and cater to locals, and families. I will also boycott Hinky Dinks for bussing in people - the place is a dump anyway!

I was wrong. My comment is on the parade page with a response from organizers. They say they are working with bar owners to prevent buses. They're also working on a plan to prevent buses from getting into the parade area. Great news.
