Community meeting with police, aldermen draws large crowd in Bronzeville
CHICAGO -- Chicago police are laying out their plan to fight violence this summer. Make no mistake about it, look to the west loop for where Bronzeville is headed. The same development team behind the development of the west loop is heading the Micheal Reese project. This so called problem on 35th can be eliminated overnight and it will be. School closings, repurposing of known historical buildings are all by design, you hear descriptions of Bronzeville in publications such as Chicago Magazine as North Bronzeville, or Near South. This is rebranding, for real estate developers who represent the selling of this area. I used to be a resident of the West Loop for 18yrs. and I see all the signs here of where this is heading. There has been 1.5 billion in infrastructure improvements, do you really think after 50 years of outright neglect they would suddenly invest in us at this level? By right if Bronzeville's story was presented properly and packaged the right way, there would be no end to the tourism potential.
