It is a shame that for many many years the government is not able to come up with a strategy to END this violence. Taxpayers pay oodles and oodles of $$. Youngsters are slaughtered in the streets. And the best we can get is some kind of cockroach shuffle. Why aren't satellite views used to view and apprehend? Why aren't more arrested? If Quinn returned 1500-1800 To EGP and the feds locked up 35 that is really some umbelievable percentage of a a net gain in criminals returned to the neighborhood! The romantic notion of a "homecoming" rationalizes this really bad idea.

If government dumps a disproportionate number of criminals into a neighborhood; the outcome is known...yet they do it. Same goes for the Welfare crowd. Maybe the Media could a study of an acceptable ratio of welfare to non-welfare residents are a proper mix to keep a neighborhood functioning at reasonable level of quality of life.

Only government is powerful enough to destroy a neighborhood and they do it through policy. Enough of blaming the victims who have to live in horror zones.

When will CHICAGOANS wake up and realize the Police Budget at billions is one of the root causes for lack of $$ for any other department to be able to provide adequate services for many. The number of POTHOLES throughout the city is one of the most irritating byproducts of a city too broke.

Used to be that only the slums got bad service. Now chatter talks about gentrified (dirty word) neighborhoods not getting service. Welcome to the world of the high cost of union labor, poor monitoring of city laborers, and the fleecing of Chicagoans pocket books.
