  • These type of stories make me really miss our typical winter storms that slow or stop violence for a segment of the year. To save all of these lives, I would gladly shovel piles of snow!

  • Clay, statistics show that there is a largely unchanging number of domestic incidents (such as the one above where the victim knew the attacker) during severe weather incidents. They may even go up slightly in what could be called the "cabin fever effect."

What goes down typically are the shootings on the streets. I guess the guys displaying their arse-cracks and underwear get cold for some reason and head indoors.

Domestic violence is a 24/7/365 event, unfortunately. Not for this Woodlawn attacker. He done.

I am more that past tired of these propaganda stories blaming the police for deaths of dysfunctional, deranged, often drug abusing individuals.

Our Chicago has terrible problems with violent criminals doing murder and mayhem. Occasion in a tiny few incidence, the Chicago Police Department make some mistakes in disarming deranged, armed maniacs.

My sources report that in 2015 over 2,500 people were shot in our city, with 500 plus homicides. Police shot and killed all of 9 people in 2015, in only 2 of those incidents were police actions accused of being in the wrong and even in those two incidents the deceased were mentally deranged, one was stoned on PCP Angel Dust, both individuals threatened the police and other citizens with lethal weapons (metal baseball bat and large knife).

The Sandra Bland case has lots of issues - if she had acted in a safe, sober, sane manner she never would have had a problems with the police or anyone else.

Let's just stop this BlackLiesMatter nonsense and get back to living positive lives.

Maybe if Dunbar is overwhelmed by gangs that shoot people at 11 AM at 48th and King Drive, some changes should be made.

Maybe Dunbar can become a mostly Hispanic workshop training facility and a new predominately Black AA high school can open near the new Obama Library at 55th and Cottage - this location should bring all sorts of great University of Chicago/HP resources to a new school. There are so many intelligent, highly motivated young people, grad students in the U of C Hyde Park area - Dunbar is just a little out of their comfort zone - but 55th and Cottage, yes that could be a great fit.

What jobs are these kids going to get? College graduates are working at Target and Starbucks. And jobs in their neighborhoods are non-existent. It would help if these neighborhoods were economically and racially integrated to increase the consumer buying power of the area, but what middle income family is going to choose to expose their families to this kind of senseless and unpredictable violence? And it would also help to get more families out of these troubled neighborhoods and into good neighborhoods but what area will welcome families from Englewood or Austin when the perception is that everyone is a gangbanger there (although clearly that is not the case)?

  • It's past the talking stage for Jessie Jackson to talk concerning black on black crime its action time for the state or government to provide neighborhood drug rehab centers and job training programs with stipends offered to people age 21 thru 61 male and female this verses money spent to keep them incaserated

  • 30+ yrs Long-time resident, trying to help keep it livable

Wrong in so many ways. How much $$ is already being spent on programs, & isn't it special when those so called community leaders "waste" millions of funds. Maybe first things first, when has Rev Jesse spoken out about unwed mothers & absentee fathers? How much of an adverse affect on communities from that? The Police aren't there to raise wayward youths. I'm not surprised sometimes they go insane & shoot first. Try to respect yourself, and quit blaming everyone else - regardless of color.
