Mike you seen to be impressed with titles and or slogans rather than policies.
    "The City that Works"
What does that mean in terms of policy outcomes?
So far you can't cite any actual policies that made either Daley better for the average Chicagoan.
Under Daley 1 we saw the highest elevation of crime in the cities history as well as the biggest outflow of jobs.
He was hated by the minority community.
Under Daley Jr. we saw a city that work for those who live downtown. That was always the critique of both Daley administrations.
They talked about the neighborhoods at election time but did little for them after Election Day.
Jr ran the rubber stamp city council and together with the major we ran up a huge debt. To which Daley responded by selling off the cities assets at 10 cents on the dollar.
That is the legacy of JR!
Much of what you think of as the good old days under Jr was the product of a booming national economy in the 1990's.
Even with record tax revenue his still managed to bury the city in debt.

You're talking millions all over the United States that have taken in lead since they were born. For decades. Millions for decades! Today there are 318 million people in the US. I would like to know out of that number what percentage of humans are effected severely by lead poisoning. 135 "managed" to earn a "medical degree"? 150 "might" have earned them a cure for cancer? C'mon you're talking about scientists, accountants, lawyers, dancers, actors, mathematicians, psychologists, doctors, brain surgeons, physicists, the list goes on and on and on. All being exposed to nothing but lead, especially in paint. Everything was painted in battle ship grey and it all had lead and chipped off daily along with windows opening and closing, doors opening and closing. Paint was being disturbed on a regular basis. Maybe people should check their daily routine and see what other "chemicals" could be effecting their child. Lead is in the air! We breathe it daily. We are surrounded by it. We've been surrounded by it all of our lives. Now it's a problem.
