Three Killed, Several Wounded In Memorial Day Weekend Violence So Far

The man was on a porch in the 9900 block of South Paxton when two males walked up and opened fire, police said. He suffered a graze wound to his right forearm and refused medical attention at the scene.

Damien Cionzynski, 23, got into a fight with two other males inside a business about 5:15 a.m. in the 6300 block of West Montrose, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The medical examiner’s office identified her Saturday morning as Veronica Lopez. She lived in the 5100 block of West Fullerton.

Just before 11 p.m., the 25-year-old was sitting in a vehicle parked in the 3700 block of West 75th Place when a gunman walked up and opened fire, according to Chicago Police.

A 24-year-old was in the 4300 block of West West End about 4:35 a.m. when two males walked up to him and opened fire, police said. The man suffered graze wounds to his arm, head and eyebrow. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

About 4 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in the 4600 block of West Jackson, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

About 45 minutes earlier, a 25-year-old man was shot in the 4600 block of South Honore in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized.

A 21-year-old man was driving in the 4300 block of North Kimball in the Irving Park neighborhood about 2:55 a.m. when someone shot him in the clavicle, police said. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition.

A 17-year-old boy was outside in the 1200 block of South Independence about 2:35 a.m. when someone in a passing black SUV shot him in the knee, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

The three were outside in the 3300 block of West Walnut when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, police said.

A woman was killed and a man injured early Sunday when they were struck by a truck in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive as they were running from an armed robbery, police said.

They took themselves to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital. Lopez was transferred to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m., authorities said. She lived in the 5100 block of West Fullerton.
