The head of C.P.D. keeps pointing out that most shootings (he stated around 78% as I remember) are committed by repeat offenders. If a criminal uses a gun to commit a crime he should do the full time but that RARELY happens in Cook Co.! Once they are released, (if charged in the first place), they are empowered to shot more with little worries about going to jail. This also makes more shooters of other gang members that witnessed shooters walk free after killing others. I actually heard criminals state that they would not go to Du Page Co. because they knew if they were caught, they would do real time! I don't remember when a Cook Co. politician was hard on crime. Most are in the news against Police enforcement. I think we are screwed until voters start thinking before they vote.

At 24, Cicero mom known internationally for her ‘Fight for $15’

When the 24-year-old mom was arrested Tuesday at a protest outside a McDonald’s at 2005 W. Chicago, it wasn’t her first time. She’d been arrested twice by the time we’d met  — at a May 2014 protest at McDonald’s Oak Brook headquarters and a September 2013 demonstration outside her own McDonald’s.

At 24, Cicero mom known internationally for her 'Fight for $15'
When we last caught up with Adriana Alvarez, this single mom from Cicero was 22 years old, had been working at the same McDonald's for four years and had been active in the nationwide "Fight for $15" movement for about a year.

If your looking to save some money, Menards has great trees for a really good prices. We bought 2 trees last night, one 8-9 foot for us and one 6-7 foot for our elderly aunt who lives upstairs from us. Both Frasier Furs although they had about 3 different other kinds. In total we spent $75 on 2 beautiful trees. No, unfortunately the $ doesn't support a school or a noble purpose, it just keeps more $ in your pocket book that creates opportunity for you to then support a worthy cause :)

For the most part, the dwindling number of Marshall Middle students already moved to share space and a principal with Roosevelt High School at 3436 W. Wilson, a move that could bolster the high school’s enrollment, too.

Community meetings have been scheduled for Jan. 12 and Jan. 17, 2017, from 6 to 7:30 p.m at Wells Community High School, 936 N. Ashland.

Formal public hearings will be held at 42 W. Madison for:

CPS to close three 'empty' schools, considers Ogden-Jenner merger
Chicago Public Schools officials said Thursday three schools that already have been emptied out will be permanently closed at the end of the school year. Marshall Middle School, 3900 N. Lawndale, and two contract schools recently put under CPS jurisdiction - Career Academy, 8 W. Root, and Early College High School, 1310 S.

  • Merger?! Many Classrooms are already at capacity. Most have between 30-40 students. These kids cannot learn in this type of setting. It's just not fair, and this is just setting them up
for failure. And how can the teachers even keep up. Frustrating

  • Val

Don't sheer demographics play a role in school mergers? The baby boom generation required lots of schools. Cohorts since have been smaller.

According to some school districts. I just don't understand how the decision makers chose not to put Childrens education/futures a priority
