Tomatoes grown under glass gracing city menus year round
Up until recently, Chicago's top chefs wouldn't dare put tomatoes on their menus until August, when they could source them locally. But a new business west of the city is now growing tomatoes under glass, hydroponically. They're using Dutch technology to grow tomatoes indoors.

Gold Coast Tower Already Under Construction Asks to Grow Taller — Again

That’s what’s happening over at No. 9 Walton, where JDL Development wants to add an additional two stories to its 35-story residential tower going up at 9 West Walton Street.

Gold Coast Tower Already Under Construction Asks to Grow Taller - Again
It's not unheard of for the developer of a Chicago skyscraper to ask the city for permission to build a little taller after the plans have already been filed and approved. It is unusual, however, for a developer to ask for more height after the building is already substantially under construction.
