Police: Man shot, killed in Gold Coast

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in the 1200-block of North Clark Street.

Police: Man shot, killed in Gold Coast
A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in the 1200-block of North Clark Street in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, Chicago police say. The shooting happened near the Clark/Division CTA Red Line stop. Police say the shooter got out of a vehicle, fired shots at the victim, then got back into the vehicle and fled.
    http://abc7chicago.com

  • Those of us who live at or near this intersection are saddened and frightened by this shooting but not surprised. You could see it coming. Evidently it was preceded by a shouting match between the people who regularly occupy the CTA bus shelter and some people across the street who regularly camp out here to sell dope, fight with each other, block the red line entrance and harass pedestrians. This has become their turf. Why is it allowed?

  • I assume this was a retaliationfor the shooting that happened an hour earlier at 1300n hudson. This strip is a unfortunately known turf for some of these gangs. For the greater good of the public, if there is a shooting in the Marshall field homes or one of the other know areas, we should have a cop car posted here to prevent an altercation where a greater number of innocent people can be harmed.

  • Sherian Lazy right now!

Sorry but the cops will not do a darn thing about this area, the ghetto trash has moved in and even with all the new high rises, things are not going to change. There are 4,500 less police then there has been and with the way the police go about...

Sorry but the cops will not do a darn thing about this area, the ghetto trash has moved in and even with all the new high rises, things are not going to change. There are 4,500 less police then there has been and with the way the police go about doing business, whom can you trust.......the mayor and gov are asleep at their desk and could give a darn..........I think the national guard should be called out to help combat crime in this city for the honest decent citizens that are left here. I live in this area for the last 25 years and now it is becoming just like south Chicago.

It is these young black men today that want it all NOW, the heck with an education, a job working towards a career like normal decent people do, crime is the lifestyle of these idiots and only taking them down like rabid animals that they are is what needs to be done. Things will get much worse here before they get better if NOBODY does nothing to stop this.

The neighborhood is soon to be lost forever unless immediate action is taken to clear the streets of this ever growing problem of people setting up camp/cots/chairs/blankets/ up and down Clark Street as well as Division St.
From Division St north down Clark it is an apocalyptic third world environment. With drug sales, drug addicts, beggers, aggressive and verbal screaming matches and now it has finally boiled over to this shooting death of a young man.
This never should take place in this area where rents and taxes are the highest in the City.
Next it will be some innocents that get shot next, perhaps a mother and child, caught in the cross fire. Do we have to wait till that happens before someone with the power to fix this NOW finally gets off their thumbs?

Where is the Alderman thru all of this? Wait till the new upscale Sinclair project begins to open their brand spanking new rental office and prospective clients will have to crawl over and thru these sidwalks over and thru these indigent cast outs and have to then decide whether they will want to live in an area that allows street urchins setting up camp/dealing/using drugs right on Clark St and Division St. That should really bode well for their sales. This is going to kill their ability to rent and they should be very concerned about the success of their Sinclair Project. It's doomed
The City has to act now!!
Clean up the streets here, Mayor/Alderman It's truly getting worse every day.
    Where's our Alderman?
Can't wait till it's time to vote again as now we can see 1st hand the lack of concern for the real tax payers/voters concerns and quality of living around here these days. Been going on for years, just went to a whole new level now-time to act is now!!!
Gold Coast more like the Ivory Coast. ENOUGH ALREADY.
Residents are all on the same page

If these folks would just stay in their own neighborhoods this tradgady may not ever of happened. If they could stop hanging out all over clark street harassing all the local residents this surly wold never of happened.
Please just go back to your own parts of town and stop hanging around the Gold Coast to deal drugs and sleep off your drug indused hang overs all over the sidwalks, this tragic event could have been avoided
