An extra-alarm fire tore threw the improv comedy theater's offices at 1612 N. Wells St. in Old Town last week. The theaters were safe but the lobby and common spaces sustained some water and smoke damage.

    The Second City announced on Monday it will cancel shows through Sunday, Sept. 6, to continue cleanup from a nearby fire last Wednesday in Chicago's Piper's Alley. A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said the blaze, which started at Adobo Grill, spread from the restaurant through vents in the roof, causing damage to Second City offices, but not the stage.
