Paul, A look at your profile and your mention of bacon buns makes me wonder--do you get your bacon buns at the Bridgeport Bakery on Archer? I'm from Bridgeport, and my brother and I still go to the old neighborhood just to stock up. Nothing like 'em anywhere else.

Tom G, I don't agree with a number of other person's opinions but if they are spoken with intelligence and integrity I respect every single one of them. Discourse and debate is the foundation of our representative democracy. Who we are as a people and as a nation evolves and changes over time. We used to exalt an economy based on slave labor, deny women the vote and criminalize mixed-marriages. We believed in separate-but-equal and allowed men to legislate womens bodies. What was then isn't now because we protect and value free speech, the evolution of ideas and changing definitions of who we are as a nation. It isn't easy. We still have States like Indiana that want to legitimize hatred and discrimination while pretending to be Christian and hiding behind the fraudulent claim of religious freedom. A public forum is good for finding a lost pet, getting references for a plumber or announcing community events. But it also is good for exchanging and challenging ideas.

Where is Ald. Lona Lane? 18th Ward Residents Wonder as Runoff Looms

Allen Crighead, 54, who is president of his block club on Talman Avenue and 82nd Street, said he realizes there are complaints about the alderman, but he said she has been accessible and attended his block club meetings.

This article has 1 other Chicago location (Show)

Tucker said Lane has missed at least four forums since election season began, but she said she hopes Lane will attend Saturday’s debate at Greater Water Church, 8422 S. Damen Ave., at 10 a.m. She also said she didn't come out for a peace march after a recent murder in the area.

  • The money that she got from Rahm is not important, getting out to vote is. Who cares about $40,000. The ward is more important.

Yes voting is the most important..nothing wrong with being aware of who runs LL
