IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE. HEALING BEGINS WITH US.

When i first discovered EveryBlock.com this summer, I was so excited to have a day to day community news resource at my finger tip. However as I monitored the posts. I found that someone was attacking and saying negative things, when someone posted to this sight. I have found this to be the case also with the 18th ward connection. In my search for media/information source for The 18th Ward, I requested to place an advertisement in The Neighbor ( a monthly newspaper that is suppose to be unbiased and for every resident of our neighborhood) I was told that I could not run my ad in my paper. ( fyi - I am a candidate for alderman and so is the publisher of this paper)

I think EveryBlock as well as The 18th Ward Connection, can be a great resource tool for everyone. Our constitutional Amendment - FREEDOM OF PRESS - does not mean for we as humans, should post negative comments and attack each other. It is time for our community to come together and heal. I am calling for every resident to respect one another. And it starts with those who desire to be in leadership. It is ok to have different choices, ideas, preferences. It is not o.k. to be a part of hurting others. Let's make everyone feel welcome to EveryBlock and see this media source grow.

There is this thing called 'conflict of interest'. I'm sure you would not run an ad in your paper; blog; social media of an opponent during campaigning.
So let's call this what it is : you posted that it's time for change yet your post is an attack. I applaud your subtlety and choice of words but it doesn't change what you meant between the lines.
This is what's wrong with society. You don't have to help anyone but don't hurt them either.

    Ads Vs Articles!
We at the Neighbor value our community and fellow neighbors. we offer a community newspaper monthly and for free to our fellow neighbors. The paper is free, but the ad space does cost, like most other newspapers. The paper is primarily paid for from our publisher's pocket, and paid ad space, there is no guarantee or right to free commercial ad space. As long as an ad fits our criteria (not offensive or attacking) and paid for, we have not and will not deny anyone! Ads range from business card size to full page color, to 12 page inserts. All requests for ad should be sent to paper, which is forwarded to the advertising director. Our Publisher running for alderman has no barring on our mission and procedures. Actually, the main difference has been less direct involvement.
Separate from ads, we allow open article submissions. Priority is given to our neighbors and those that service our neighbors in our community. if you have a genuine story that is not offensive or overly commercial in nature and you want it published, SEND THEM! www.TheNeighbor60652.com

I am my neighbors keeper!

Thank You !
Our ward has many wonderful seniors and disabled. let's check on them regularly.
As a problem of our harsh winters, sometimes their love ones might not be able to get
to them. So when its a lot of snow, please help me make sure, that all of our seniors
and disabled are o.k. . I am proud and honored to be a resident among the best people
and community in Chicago.

Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association Endorsement

It is our honor to announce that the Michael A. Davis campaign has received an endorsement from the Chicago Police Sergeants’ Association. The Association states, “we believe that having Michael A. Davis as a member of the city council would be in the best interest of our members as well as all citizens of this city”. With this endorsement and support from the residents, Michael A. Davis is one step closer to becoming the Alderman of the 18th ward.
