CHICAGO – Back in Week 5, Providence and St. Rita hooked up in one of the most highly-anticipated games of the season. Providence rolled into Chicago and pulled out a 41-27 win on its way to the Chicago Catholic Blue title.
The two teams are headed for another collision Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Rita in a Class 8A second round game that will be broadcast by CN100 at Noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, and at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10. You can also find the game anytime with Xfinity on Demand.
One of the best teams in the state, Providence only dropped a 10-7 decision to Loyola. The Celtics (9-1 overall, 3-1 Chicago Catholic Blue) have outscored teams by 231 points this season, led by senior quarterback Justin Hunniford.
The Mustangs (7-3, 1-3) lost three of five games in the middle of the season, a streak started by the Providence loss. After wins over Aurora Christian and St. Joseph, the Mustangs lost to Loyola (38-14) and Brother Rice (28-21).
But St. Rita rebounded with a 35-21 win over Plainfield East last week.
