You realize that Sunshine Gospel Ministries opened that coffee shop and rehabbed that entire building as well as the one across from the coffee house. I suggest you look them up also the squash court was opened by another non profit. Would you rather the coffee house building still be vacant and boarded as it stood for 10yrs before it was rehabbed? How about the Grove Parc projects do you want those back on the site of the squash court. It's a shame that even basic improvements in black neighborhoods are seen as "gentrification".And No I am not African Americab but I have been welcomed to my block with open arms. My neighbors are glad that a previously vacant home is now occupied and being up kept. Like I said we need diversity on all levels. It's 2015 people have a new way of thinking

In 2015 white supremacy, institutional racism and economic discrimination against African-Americans, is the reality in Chicago version of Ferguson.

As a native son, welcome to Bronzeville! :-)

P.S. I have many white friends and associates.

A Proper Protest?

A suggestion: If you are truly outraged at the recent (and historical) spate of law enforcement murders (of which Michael Brown and Eric Garner are only 2 of the more prominent ones), how about, as a form of protest, we never stand for the National Anthem at any public events?
