I’m sure I’ll have more to say on my radio program: Incoherent Ramblings, Thursday, Noon (CST) http://whpk.org/ and on the good old fashioned radio at 88.5 FM if you’re close. In addition to me living up to the name of the program, you'll hear MLK, Jimi Hendrix, and David Sedaris among others.

There was a story in the news today about Amazon coming to Illinois and bringing (at least) 1,000 jobs with them. The report said they may actually build a few facilities (in Illinois), their specific locations as yet to be determined. There was a story in the news today about Amazon coming to Illinois and bringing (at least) 1,000 jobs with them. The report said they may actually build a few facilities (in Illinois), their specific locations as yet to be determined. Upon hearing this I thought: if I was 20th Ward alderman Amazon’s executives would know me by name by the end of the week. With all of our empty space I know we’ve got the perfect site for one (or more) of those facilities. I wonder if our current city council representative has made any moves toward Amazon.

Meanwhile, back on the campaign trail. . .Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th. Two weeks after that, we city council candidates will start submitting our signatures to the Board of Elections. I’m just glad we still have some time ‘cause we need names! (We need money, too, but more about that later.) We might have a decent strategy to obtain some of those names, but it gets tricky; let me explain: We’re using 2011/2012 election data to determine areas/precincts where support for the incumbent is tepid. Let’s (for the sake of argument) say a couple (there are more) of those areas are (or were) the 7th and 17th precincts. We figured we would canvass those areas on Election Day with the hope that we’d find some signers among those voting. The problem is, thanks to the ward remap the boundaries for many precincts have changed completely. The 20th Ward had 45 precincts in 2011; now we’re down to 39. Hey, we’ll figure it out. We’ve also gotta figure out how to get some bodies in those precincts. (Tell me, what are you doing November 4th?)
