Toothache!! Know of any free dental services??

Does anyone know of a free dental clinic for a friend who is unemployed? near West Town, Bucktown or Wicker Park? Or anywhere at this point? Any kind of a toothache is unbearable.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with RAKARWOWSKI and most of what Nolan is saying . It is easy for those who have never been on the job to criticize . The problem with Police is that the overwhelming majority try to do the job right . 1 bad cop destroys it for the whole lot of them . The bad ones should be rooted out faster so the good ones don't have to look over their shoulders . The Police dept is also woefully undermanned it is laughable . Rahm gets in and wants to cut the Police budget . He doesn't care about Public safety . With a Dept that is already undermanned there should be no cuts . With all the tax increases and new revenue streams they should find the money .

Farmer's Market

Just moved to UV, close to Chicago and Damen. Would anyone know of any nearby farmers market. Looking for some details. Thanks!

There's info for the on at Wicker, but I think there's another one at the Division/Ashland/Milwaukee triangle too.

  • Wicker Park has one on Sunday mornings. Damen and Honore. Right before the Blue line

  • Christy East and Ukrainian Village resident since 2001

I also like the one on saturday am on Division/Clark. If you take public transit, it's an easy walk up to the Division bus. Wicker Park one is nice too on Sunday, the Division market has a little more variety though regarding specialty products (meats, cheese, salsas). Both are great!

Dogs are allowed in Chicago parks if they are on leash. It says so on the big signs outside the parks. But, 2 parks, have those same big signs and a foot away, a smaller signed, that says NO DOGS ALLOWED IN PARK. the big sign has always been there and says Chicago Park District. The little sign just got there six months or a little longer ago and says Chicago Park District. Chicago Park District said both times they don't know what little sign that could be, but never called back to say why those signs are up. Are those signs rogue? The parks are Snowberry Playlot, 1851 W. Huron, and the other one is kitty-corner behind Dominick's, don't know the name. They are both called playlots, but the Park District said they were no different than parks. Does anyone know where these No Dogs signs came from and why they are these two parks?

I recall seeing more no dogs signs. I think they're appearing at playlots. I haven't been around the 2 playlots you mention so there are more. I just can't remember where I saw them. I think one is at the Nelson playlot on Nelson between Sacramento and Francisco.

  • Signs or not i constantly see people bring in dogs to the playlot on Hoyne & Superior..

-A Chicago original since 1968-

Hey CDOT, did you a favor today

Saw your job-box was wide open at 8pm- long after the crew left for the day.
Maybe they had an emergency and had to split, maybe Tony though Sal locked it up...I don't know!

But after seeing the shovels, rakes, trowels and other costly tools in there the best thing for me to do was to lock them up for you.
Your shiny, bullet-proof Master lock was just sitting there on the ground so I put it on the lockbar and voila! Stolen tools and wasted tax dollars averted!

Lets be more mindful tomorrow ok??

How safe is Malcolm X College to go to in general. If you're young, first year college, does race matter? It shouldn't, but you never know if you don't know the community, especially in Chicago. Thanks.
