Moving? I've got boxes!!

Hi RPers

I just moved and I have a lot of boxes of various sizes to give away. They are sturdy, and many of them have tops, since they are printer paper boxes.

I'll recycle them if I get no responses here, but I'd rather they get some more use and I know it's a big season for moving right now.

So, if you want them, feel free to reply here and we can work out details.

  • soder606 Mother, Grandmother, Cook, Reader, Liberal

I also have moving boxes. Near Armstrong School. About a dozen of the large, strong ones, I believe they are called dishpaks. I have responded twice on Everyblock to folks looking for moving boxes. They have responded but never followed through to come pick them up. So if you need more than Janvier can provide email to me.

  • I'm very interested!
Please email me when and where I can pick them up.
    Thank you!

What happens to PB funds when the project is put on hold or cancelled?

Seems several PB approved items have been placed on hold or cancelled. Seemingly 750 k in on hold/ cancelled items over 6 PB elections.

105k for 15 bike racks.
Bike lanes on Clark from Howard to Albion unknown $$.
Coblestone replacement cancelled due to cost.
Sheridan road pedestrian safety study was cancelled.

Looking at the PB site it is not clear what happens to allocated funds that are not used for the Democratically voted funds.

  • The question is about projects like the bike racks that failed to come to fruition, not completed projects.

Completed projects can happen in a year or two after being "contractually obligated" ...

The completed projects were funded from a later year...does it matter?

    Alderman Moore.

You comment here sometimes. Can you kindly clear up this minor point about whether menu funds roll-over to the next year?

    Your people are confused.

    Thank you.

  • With all that said...

There are non-budgetary reasons a "voted and approved" project would never get finished.

The biggest of those reasons is CDOT which must approve any project has one or more issues with the project.

That one year the 46th ward did PB...of the 6 projects approved only 2 were completed for these non-budgetary reasons. I would chalk that up to inexperience, I am sure the 49th ward is doing better than 1 out of 3.

Howard "L" Station Cleaning

I was wondering if anyone else noticed how nasty the Howard station is lately? I know it's NEVER spotless and many "L" stations never are but I feel like it's been in rare form. Everything is filthy and smells of urine among other things.

Does anyone know if the cleaning has been halted or lessened due to the budget issues? Is there anything that we can do to address this? It's terrible that people have to travel through this day in and day out.
