However...you are just all over the place and it seems like wherever you actually do live you have no connection to that community.

You are like a self-appointed schoolmarm debasing whoever for whatever. Don't matter if it's a lost dog, a murder, or a recommendation for a plumber there you are.

Is it ok to ask...what is your neighborhood, do you actually live in Chicago?

Where to post for Loyola students?

I’m currently looking for a nanny for my infant and thought given the hours (10-2:30) it may be a suitable side job for qualified Loyola students since we live walking distance from the campus(clark&albion) I’m wondering if there are other outlets besides every block that I can post on that Loyola students will see either online or on campus?

  • We did this a couple years ago. My husband was able to post something on a loyola student job board geared toward school of education students. I'm not sure exactly where he posted, but you can try calling their school of education or other admin office to see where they...

We did this a couple years ago. My husband was able to post something on a loyola student job board geared toward school of education students. I'm not sure exactly where he posted, but you can try calling their school of education or other admin office to see where they might direct you. We got about ten or so responses. You may have a hard time finding a student who can work everyday for those hours with class schedules, but maybe they can team up with a friend to make it work. Good luck!

Toni Taxwinkle Should be Impeached

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/kass/ct-soda-tax-kass-met-0914-20170913-column.html

When she was 4th Ward Alderman from 1991-2010, Alderman Joe Moore was politically aligned with Preckwinkle. I wonder what his perspective is on this assinine tax?

Hidden treasures in Toni Taxwinkle's idiotic pop tax
Taxpayers are rightfully angry about Toni Taxwinkle's costly and idiotic soda pop tax, though there are some hidden gems in it, too. But angry taxpayers jamming the county boardroom on Wednesday weren't looking for treasure. They were looking for vengeance on Taxwinkle for her ravenous penny-per-ounce soda pop tax.

Helen so Glad you find humor in driving families from RP. By driving those kids from the neighborhood the schools are now in crisis.
Depleted and shuttered schools do not employ teachers or educational support staff.
Business have fewer customers. Parents with money send kids away from RP for schooling.

What's with "swings"?

I was on a walk in the neighborhood on a block just west of Ridge and I saw several houses on the same block with large signs on the lawns saying "We Support Swings". Then I saw what looked like a whole porch swing detached from its frame, in front of one of the houses, out by the curb. Like it was to be picked up by a trash collector.

Does anyone know anything about a neighborhood ban on porch or yard swings?

Lincoln Towing Hauls Author's Car Away From Her Book Launch Party
ANDERSONVILLE - As state regulators continue to weigh whether to yank Lincoln Towing Service's license - claiming the firm frequently moved cars without authorization - a Chicago author said the notorious company grabbed her car while she celebrated the publication of her book.

  • Tired of Liars Sick and Tired of Self Serving Lying Politicians

The tow truck driver and the towing company itself should be charged with felony auto theft and felony extortion, and their business license should be permanantly revoked. Then again, our elected officials seem to be too too busy aguing about fois gras, soda taxes, and other disingenuous issues disadvantageous of the functional working class to care about trivial matters such as illegal towing by a corrupt company which has a rich tradition of being politically correct.

  • hmm, I've never heard of Lincoln Towing's "rich tradition of being politically correct." Care to elaborate? What does that that even mean?

One of my first Ultra Local Geography projects was documenting the decorative stone door surrounds in Rogers Park. Another project was tracking down some of the neighborhood buildings that had been published in various journals. So when I decided to get some more experience with digital colorization I thought it would be interesting to combine two old projects.

Time to hold the owner of the vacant Howard-Claremont property accountable for his neglect
Evanston Alderman Ann Rainey and I are leading a delegation of neighbors to a court hearing this Monday morning to urge a circuit court judge to throw the book at the owner of the vacant property at 2317 W. Howard (the southeast corner of Howard and Claremont) that once was a Burger King restaurant.
