Rogers Park Station

...there's still time to see the exhibit exhibit at the society's storefront at 7363 N. Greenview...

    Rogers Park Station
One of the best things about my work day is the ease of the commute. I walk one block east to the Metra station and ride south to the terminus at Ogilvie Station, which takes about 20 minutes. Then I walk a few blocks east to City Hall.

Well it's an alderman's job to create ordinances... So the answer to your question is pretty obvious. As it is now there are no signs because it's not illegal. On the CTA in a similar platform their rules prohibit it. Many suburbs they have managed to make this illegal. Why allow such nonsense?

  • In a decade of using the Rogers Park Metra station, I've never once seen anyone smoking on the platform. So why is it a concern?

Alderman Moore on WTTW "Pitfalls of Participatory Budget" 4/24/17

According to Moore PB gives "taxpayers" the decision on how to spend their local community tax dollars. According to Moore PB gives "taxpayers" the decision on how to spend their local community tax dollars. Conversely, Moore's election criteria allows children as young as 16 who are ineligible to vote in public elections, and adults otherwise ineligible to legally vote in public elections, for what ever reasons, to do so. Those ineligible to vote would also include illegal and documented aliens who are not necessarily "taxpayers," and certainly 16 year old children are not self supporting "taxpayers" as Moore stated. In effect, like his absurd extreme support of continued expansion of our social safety net, Moore's desire is to run his own personal popularity contest with non contributing factions of the community at the expense of taxpayers. I hope Bill Morton runs against him. At least he appears to genuinely care about the community which is more than I can say for Moore.

  • Live from Rogers Park, do you remember RP Advocate and Braxter?

  • In conclusion, voting in the USA is a privilege and a right. For US citizens of course.

Where to Watch the Blackhawks' Playoff Games in Chicago
If attending a game is out of the picture, consider watching the game somewhere where you can still be surrounded by fellow fans. Whether the game is home or away, you can still catch the excitement at one, or a few, of the many official Blackhawks bars across Chicago.

Six-story mixed-user planned for Rogers Park

Six-story mixed-user planned for Rogers Park
The new development will deliver 38 new apartments and a stretch of retail spaces.
    http://chicago.curbed.com

  • thanks, Helen. I assume you attended the meeting. I just googled Endicott brick and Nichiha cement fiber. They don't look so bad.
Again, better than a parking lot...
Howard is commercially viable. There's a decent chance they will fill the retail space. I believe the lot is the one right next to Caribbean American bakery. I've always thought that eastern stretch of Howard is quite attractive, with the curved street, plantings, blend of historically- and architecturally-interesting buildings, and so on.

  • Helen NoH North of Howard for 55 + years

The building will be between Lost Eras to the east and the Caribbean American Bakery with the historic Broadmoor across the street. Long ago, WBBM broadcast from the Broadmoor. The retail space could be one business or it could be subdivided according to the developer. The parking is not visible from Howard. The parking garage is in the rear of the building with access from Rogers.

Spanish Conversation

Buenas Tardes a Todos!
Apologies for any inconvenience. I posted on another site as well, and several people are interested in taking part in our Spanish conversation group. As it stands now, Fridays, late afternoon or early evening (4-8) seems to be good for us (including me!) to "charlar, divertirnos, y practicar" el espanol.
I'm hoping we can meet this coming Friday, the 28th, at the Royal. If you're interested, please let me know what would work time-wise. I can also estimate how many people may be coming.
Gracias mil.

Gutters - Stolen Again! Be on look out for Silver MiniVan Lic Plate Z69 - 425

Gutters on my garage - recently replaced after they were stolen about a month ago - were stolen again last night (April 18, 2017)! Neighbors yelled at the middle-aged white guy, driving a silver Mini-van with IL Plate Z69 - 425 but he took-off after sticking the gutter in his vehicle. He only got one downspout off the garage and I imagine he will be prowling around again looking for more. This was in the 6600 block of N Glenwood (shared alley with 6600 block of Newgard). I know gutter theft was posted previously but I could not find it on EveryBlock this morning.

  • JMG

Our downspout was taken Wednesday afternoon between 2 and 5, other neighbors also had downspouts removed or damaged in the attempt.
I guess plastic gutters are the solution.

  • Good afternoon,

I was just contacted by the 24th CPD District Community Policing Office. I was asked to request that if anyone has a report that has been filed with them in relation to any of these thefts, please contact them by email with the report number, and your name...

Found Dog

I found a loose dog this morning on the corner of Clark and Pratt around 7 am. Female, brindle, a bit on the older side (8-12), very sweet, very docile. She has on a pink collar but no tags and does not have a microchip. Please let me know if you know this dog.

1.) Boa constrictors don't ever grow that long.
2.) How would you even know your neighbor had a boa?

  • Omar I'm almost certain that one of the participants on this thread is a Golden Retriever who uses the owner's internet connection during the day. She is very clever and I'm almost certain she's a Golden Retriever. There also is a Lhasa Apso who is on this thread but he is very polite and never gives a thumbs down to anyone.
