About a year ago LeClaire was tore up due to a water main project. After this project the street was re-paved and new roundabouts and curbs were put in. Now that there's this extended mining project happening at Diversey and Laramie the re-routing of traffic continues. The CTA is following a set detour down Fullerton which has recently been re re-routed to Belmont. There are Detour signs set up indicating this. But throughout the day there are large semi-trucks, dump trucks, car transport trucks and other large vehicles well above 5 tons traveling down the residential side streets rather than taking the set detour. These large vehicles cannot make it around the new roundabouts so they either A, run right over them or B, go counterclockwise and run over the new curbs which is destroying them. Originally the Diversey and Laramie project was scheduled to end February 4th, then it was extended to March 15th. Now we are hearing that it might be extended another 2 weeks. By the time all this is finished they will have to repair the new curbs and roundabouts on the side streets again.

Six Corners Binnys/Culvers?

Has anyone heard what is the status of the new development Binnys and Culvers down on Six Corners? It doesn't look like there has been any progress.

  • MGirl MGirl

I haven't heard anything on the Binnys and Culver's but I know the Retro Fitness was supposed to open in January then they told me late March. But when I walk by, not much has changed inside. I live across the street and there are workers there everyday!

  • Craig E. Friend of Chicago

I hope for the sake of the neighborhood it actually happens. Just like I hope the point at six corners happens.

10 shots fired in the 4100 block of North Central Avenue

Police recovered shell casings of another gang-related shooting in the (literally) Portage Park area.

There was a POI with a facial tattoo being sought in the shooting last seen running west on Irving Park from Central.

Hey, Alderman Arena your plan for those 20 Section-8 CHA units sound like a really great idea, huh?

Something does not add up. There are several Jewelers within walking distance of this incident who buy Gold for Cash and are reputable and pay fair price. This sounds like a drug deal gone bad and the Chain sale is the "victims'" cover.

  • I thought the Einstein quote came from the Roadrunner. He fell for the anvil every time.

They are having a meeting on March 20tn to talk about the need for more economic development in our area. I have attended their meetings in the past and find them very informative with good guest speakers. I went on their Facebook page and was shocked to see so many empty storefronts that are in our neighborhood. I think it's a good idea that we start talking about these issues. I'm going to this meeting and if we care about this neighborhood then stop by and participate. That is what makes a community stronger. FYI the meeting is NOT at the hospital its at:
