  • Mather High School reviewed

Many of the students at Mather are immigrants to America or the sons and daughters of immigrants to America, the school offers a wide range of classes from ESL 1 to 4 to bring the English skills these kids need. Mather also offers many honors and AP classes in every core subject as well as several years of Drama, Visual Art, dance, and Music. It has one of the best student freshman -senior year improvements in all of CPS and an average ACT score of 18 higher than most CPS schools but a little below the state average.

Cinco de Mayo isn't a sprint. No, the holiday (which marks the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, when the Mexican army defeated the French in 1862, in case that history lesson is a bit fuzzy) is a marathon. To help celebrate, Chicago bars and restaurants have pulled out the stops on unique freebies, drink deals and tequila-fueled shenanigans.

CPS to test for lead in water at 28 elementary schools
Chicago Public Schools announced Thursday the list of 28 elementary schools being tested for lead, a measure CEO Forrest Claypool insisted was being taken "out of an abundance of caution."

  • CJL ...

"Wonder What really happened that raised a red flag to conduct testing for lead"

Assuming this is a serious question:

    1. Flint.
    2. Chicago Tribune investigation that Chicago was using BS testing methodology in selecting locations for water quality testing.
    3. It's kids, who are most susceptible to bad effects of lead.

I'd bet a dollar that *most* of the older south and west side schools will show elevated lead levels in the water. Probably not truly high, but elevated.

  • CJL

    This is a serious question

I did not realize the entire importance of this testing lead

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, there isn't any found
