Catalytic Converter Thieves

With the warm weather, the thieves come out at night. Sometime after midnight and before dawn, thieves that steal catalytic converters come out. It takes them less than a minute to go under the car with a SawzAll and cut out the catalytic converter. The targeted vehicles have been 2000-2003 models of Honda CRV, Nissan SUV, Pontiac Grand Am & Chevy Cavalier. Best advice is to always activate the car alarm & keep an eye out for anyone walking with tools in the middle of the night. Call 911 if anyone seems suspicious.

Looking for Buyer's Agent

We are looking to buy a large property in the 60656, 60631, or 60646 zip codes. We are looking for someone not afraid to work. This means we need someone who has a sharp eye and a good grasp of negotiating tactics. We seek a property that can double as a home dog boarding business. My husband was a contractor, so he is willing to buy a fixer upper, within reason.

  • I can tell you who not to use!! Kathy O Sullivan, Konig/Strey. Dishonest, does not listen, more like a schiester car salesperson.

  • I second Lisa sanders

I-90 Canfield exit at Higgins poses danger

The Canfield exit off westbound I-90 onto Higgins is very dangerous. Not only is it a blind spot for exiting vehicles but also for east bound Higgins Rd. vehicles. Many cars who exit drive westbound in the eastbound lanes posing a serious threat of head-on collision. Drivers on Higgins should be aware of this & use caution at that site. I photographed one wrong way driver who exited I-90 and I posted it on my twitter site which is William Pelarenos@policeproject1

Since you are no longer allowed to turn left onto Octavia off of westbound Higgins (since the early 1980s), they do allow for a U-turn once westbound and eastbound lanes once again become adjacent just west of the 2-flats. But people behind you on westbound Higgins get pissed off that you have come to a dead stop in the middle of the road and there is honking, swearing and the occasional rear-ending. But of course you also have the buttheads who just don't care that you have to drive a few hundred feet into oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road in order to turn left onto Octavia off of westbound Higgins and do it anyway. (And about 4 out of 5 times the ones doing that are cops who are too lazy to go down a little further and make the U-turn.)

They also made the exit too short from the time you reach the top of the exit to where the stop sign is to accommodate Octavia and drivers exiting the expressway rear-end people stopped at the stop sign at least 2-3x a month.

As much as i do understand and agree about the Canfield exit, the "solution" they put in place for the same problematic design at the old Harlem exit is a freaking nightmare!! Oh and the Einstein that designed the "new" version of the Harlem exit wn an award for it, too. Pfff!

I agree completely that the Canfield exit is dangerous. I have seen debris from accidents there and I have seen people driving westbound in the eastbound lanes when they exit the ramp. The angle of the ramp makes it hard to see westbound traffic, especially with blindspots in the car...

The angle of the ramp makes it hard to see westbound traffic, especially with blindspots in the car due to the curtain airbag enclosures. I prefer to exit I-90 at Harlem and take Bryn Mawr west. I also try to avoid Higgins eastbound between Canfield and Oriole, opting to go south on Oriole down to Higgins, when convenient. They should have changed the exit when they were rebuilding the Canfield bridge.
