Watching the live feeds, I am astonished at how many of the protestors smoke cigarettes and are bumming them from each other. What a nasty expensive habit and they're supporting big business/capitalism.

Second: If they are protesting the war, why don't they go to Afganistan and protest to Al-Kaida?? Why is the U.S. always at fault?

Used Bikes Nearby?
Time for me to get another bicycle. I'm in the market for something used, preferably inexpensive. I'm looking for something to commute and pleasure ride around the area with, not go fast. I'm ready to put some work into myself too. Hybrid, road, mountain is fine.
Any places you folks recommend to check out. I keep an eye out on Craigslist.

Kenji, dunno if you got your bike. But in my humble opinion the COOLEST, HIPPEST used bike shop is Working Bikes Cooperative, a non-profit on S. Western. We just got a bike for Claire there. Here is the website: workingbikes.org. It's worth a trip just to chat with these folks.

kenji my email is: chicagokenji @ gmailHey Lori! We've been there. We got Kole's last bike there.
I've been pedaling down to Bob's recently to chat him up. You never know what he'll have but he's doing a thorough job on the ones he puts up for sale in that garage.

Aggressive Pit Bulls Argyle x Keystone
Has anyone had issues with these dogs? I do know the owner's name and address. These dogs are vicious and out of control. Apparently the owner is unconcerned about the threat his dogs pose to the neighborhood, children, and other dogs. These dogs were involved in a vicious attack on an elderly dog being walked. All dogs were on leashes. BUT the pit's were being walked by teens who had no ability to control them when they attack another dog....

Have your dogs been attacked? Have you been attacked? If you have had any run-ins with these dogs Please call 911 and your Alderman. These dogs have jumped the fence on numerous occasions. And please, do not bother with the "all pits are not bad". these dogs are killers and the next thing they decide to rip to pieces might be you or your child.

i let my sittercity account expire, and now i need a backup babysitter since ours is unavailable tonight... anyone have an option in a pinch? we're in West Walker area - Independence Park. Speed Limit Cameras on Foster
How can we volunteer to have Foster Avenue, between Elston and Kimball, set as the first area to test the speed-limit cameras?
This section of Foster is clearly posted as a 30 MPH zone, yet because of the large area of parks and little parking there is a very large amount of speeding down this street. It's a real threat to pedestrians, senior citizens, children, bicyclists, and other using the public streets.
This would be a good place to test the system. Speed limit signs are clearly posted along the route and new signs wouldn't even be needed.

DONUTS!!
So last night I was watching Chicago's Best on WGN and they were in the South suburbs at a Donut Shop. I am now craving a good, no wait, GREAT donut. For those of you who love Dunkin Donuts (I'm not knocking it, just not a huge fan), please don't suggest. Mind you, In a craving donut crunch, I will go to good ol' DD but now I'm in pursuit of a REALLY, REALLY good donut place in our area. Thanks and Happy Monday!

About 2 hours later, a friend's son was walking the dog and this car pulled up, the driver motioned him to come to the car. The passenger GOT OUT OF THE CAR, started walking toward him and started asking him for directions. My son said nothing to him and immediately ran away from him and ran home. A police report was made.
About 2 months ago, the same described car was in this area and approached another girl. In that incident, there was a man and woman in the car. Male with same long haired description. A police report was made.
What You Can Do
. Be aware of this situation and alert neighbors in the area about the crime.
. If possible, don't walk alone and stay in well lit areas.
. Call 911 to report any suspicious person(s), vehicle(s) or activity in your neighborhood.
. Call 911 and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including the vehicle description and license plate information.
Talk with your children. We need to keep alert and our eyes open. If anyone sees this car, PLEASE GET LICENSE PLATE AND CALL 911.

Thanks and No Thanks ?
I check in this afternoon to EB. All is normal. I go, swim my laps, shower, ride back, open my EB and all of sudden there's Thanks and No Thanks.
Fill me in.
FYI, for EB mods/admins/employees, seeing this, for your next company meeting, to get extra points, tell the powers that be, there should be a place for all EB "members" like us, from all over the USA, to talk amongst ourselves about how EB is run. A forum on the blog (which sucks BTW.) or somehwere else, to talk amongst ourselves about how you design and run EB, and handle the everyday tasks.

Summer Camp at Eugene Field Park
Eugene Field Park at 5100 N. Ridgeway still has openings for summer camp! They offer daycamp from 9-3pm and Extended Camp (for working families) from 3-6pm. It’s a popular program. Parents can receive 50% off the fee if their child gets free or reduced lunch at school. They would just need to get the lunch letter from school stating they get free or reduced lunch.
Summer Camp lasts Monday, June 25 through Friday, August 3. Ages 6-13. $333 for traditional camp and $167 for extended camp option. Register online chicagoparkdistrict.com or visit the Field House.
Other areas of the city have waitlists for summer camp-- so lets make sure all of our kids have somewhere to be this summer.
