36th Ward Aldermanic Petition Drive

Friends and Neighbors,

On Tuesday August 26th will be the first day for candidates seeking office in the 2015 Municipal elections to circulate petitions. I will be one of those seeking to run for office, as I have declared my candidacy for the 36th Ward Alderman. I will be in your neighborhood soon. I look forward to speaking with you and discussing ways that we can move this ward forward. www.gilbert2015.com

Every alderman gets at least $1.3 million and chooses what to address in their ward. Alderman Arena, like Alderman Sposato, both in the Progressive Caucus and on the same boat with the Mayor, even has its constituents decide/vote on how the menu money is spent. Alderman Sposato, on the other hand, chooses slowly what is to be done in his ward, based on where he will get the most payback come election. He told us to go scratch on Irving Park Rd sidewalks last fall, because they are not used frequently enough. Now, he is saying they are not even in his ward, while he sits on $1 million of our ward money, uncommitted. See it for yourself at

  • While I am always interested in learning about favoritism among alderman, I am confused, Minerva, about your comment. I checked the website you cited and found that most of the street projects in the 36th Ward are not in the area that was redistricted into the 38th ward where Sposato is running for election.
