    Chicago Public Schools has 75 elementary schools with amounts of lead in their drinking water that have tested above federally acceptable standards. That's about 18 percent so far of the 422 grade schools run by the city's school system. CPS released the updated numbers after 8 p.m.

First They Shot Me, Now They're Harassing Me On Facebook, Victim Says

According to prosecutors, an 18-year-old man and his 17-year-old girlfriend were walking in the 2700 block of South Pulaski Road about noon Feb. 15 when Hernandez and an accomplice approached from behind.

Hernandez, of the 2700 block of South Millard Avenue, was arrested on a warrant Sunday night and is charged with aggravated battery by discharging a gun, aggravated assault by discharging a gun and aggravated discharge of a firearm near a vehicle or school.

About 1:30 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was driving in the 1500 block of West Garfield when another vehicle pulled up to him at a stop sign and someone inside opened fire, police said. A bullet grazed his shoulder, and he was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Fifteen minutes earlier, someone shot a 27-year-old man in both legs in Princeton Park’s 200 block of West 95th Street at 1:15 p.m., police said. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park in fair condition.

At 1:09 p.m., a person was shot in the right leg and buttocks in the 9800 block of South Ingleside in the Pullman neighborhood. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, but police did not have more information.

Among the shootings since Sunday afternoon was a man killed in the 2200 block of South Lawndale Avenue in Little Village about 10:50 p.m. Sunday, police said.

• A 30-year-old man was shot in Little Village about 12:45 a.m. He was driving near 24th Street and Washtenaw Avenue when someone shot him in the head. The man crashed his car at the intersection and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

• A 21-year-old man was shot near Cortland and Mason avenues in the North Austin neighborhood about 4:10 a.m. Monday, police said. Someone fired at him from inside a light-colored SUV and the victim was dropped off at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

• A 22-year-old man was shot in the head in the 10700 block of South Champlain Avenue around 1:20 a.m. and was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Chicago Fire Department paramedics were at Roseland Hospital when someone dropped him off. They took him to Christ.

• Someone shot a 37-year-old man in the Gresham neighborhood about 11:45 p.m. The man was listed in serious condition with wounds to his chest and hand, police said. The attack happened in the 8800 block of South Wood Street.  

• A woman was hit by a bullet shot through the window of a Lawndale neighborhood home about 10:50 p.m. Police said she was inside the home in the 1800 block of South Trumbull Avenue when she was hit in the chest. She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.

Two Cook County Jail Guards Suffer Minor Injuries

The spokesman said two ambulances were called to Division II of the jail, at 2700 S. California Av., around 2 p.m.  Division II houses minimum- and medium-security prisoners.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesman said the injuries were considered minor and that both guards were in good condition. They were transported to nearby St. Anthony Hospital, at 2875 W. 19th St., for treatment.

The boy was walking in the street in the 2300 block of South Albany about 10:45 p.m. when someone shot him twice in the abdomen and once in the left arm, according to police. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
