Surprise! I wasn't going to put this info. out until tomorrow, but we have formed a new non-profit organization. We call it-
Chicago Urban Art Retreat Center. We have made some changes, but what you know about us is still appropriate!
We still have our mission, programs, and community work. We volunteers are still here. We could use some community support! That would be nice! Currently both organizations are existing. One is phasing out and one is phasing in. We are streamlining our commitments and programming to be more efficient and effective.
I hope people will come to our Celebration on May 26 and have a cup of tea in the afternoon after 1p.m.!

Old school could help form new Cabrini

...In exchange, CPS will turn over the Cabrini property and an 11-acre site at 31st and Kedzie in the South Lawndale neighborhood...

The city’s Department of Housing and Economic Development recently announced that it will acquire the former Near North High School site, an 11-acre property at 1450 N. Larrabee St. that sits at the top of Cabrini’s once-notorious public housing block.

If the high school property does fall into CHA’s care, the site would be a timely addition to the agency’s growing portfolio around the intersection of Clybourn and Larrabee.

CHA also owns a property just south of the school at 1340 N. Larrabee, next door to Stanton Park and the long-standing Northside Strangers Home Baptist Church. That property was once the site of a public housing high-rise — one of eight that made up the now-demolished William Green Homes.

From New Bike Racks - where did they come from?:

"Just curious about the new bike racks you see through Lakeview. They are cool colors and in the shape of a bike. I like them and just wondering if they were purchased by the city or some how locally. Any comments would be helpful?"
