Toni Periwinkle just cut the Cook County staff of all departments substantially. I believe the Prosecutors were cut 10-20%. IMO, safety and L&O departments should not be cut. Period. The sentences are light because Kim Foxx doesn't have the staff to take on all these non-life threatening cases and Dart doesn't have the space or the manpower at the jail.
I think they should make a deal with another State or another County that has space like Indiana and ship these thugs to their jails and pay them to house them. It's been done before.

  • Chicago City Day School reviewed by a parent

This is the best place for my children. They are growing up to be respectful, kind, inquisitive, confident young people. We are very pleased with Chicago City Day School, its staff, the teaching philosophies, class size, and community.

God Help Us, The Air & Water Show Is Back This Weekend
Long before so much all-too-recent nuclear sabre-rattling, the sound of jets screeching just above the city-like that endured during the annual Chicago Air & Water Show-made us pretty jumpy. To be honest, we tend to swing more toward the Sideshow Bob end of the spectrum when it comes to Air Show enthusiasm in general.

  • I have lived here (in east LP) for over 30 years and I detest those big planes that buzz through the neighborhood, not only causing horrid noise pollution but the vibrations hurt the old buildings and cause unneeded expenses due to the cracks, etc that are caused by the planes. Furthermore, it's a big waste of money (think of the fuel and OT for all the police). We won't even talk about the traffic!!!! :-(

  • Yeah, I hate it too.

Follow-up on Accident on 8/18

Hello,
I hope I'm not misusing this forum. On 8/18 at roughly 6:50am I was on the 148 bus when a man who was lying down on Irving Park between Clarendon and Broadway got run over by a car. I can't seem to find anything about this in any news source, and I was wondering if anyone else had information about what happened - mainly if the man survived or what condition he is in. Hello,
I hope I'm not misusing this forum. It all happened so quickly and I would love to reach out to him and follow up, as I was stuck on a moving bus when it all went down.

If anyone had any information please let me know.

If this isn't an appropriate use of the forum, I apologize. I won't be posting again, his was just the only thing I could think of using to reach out to my community.

Thank you,
RJ
