Door-to-door 'candidate' today?

My teenager told me that a young man (orange polo shirt, shortish, prob under 30) came to the door today saying that he was running for something (she didn't catch what)....she (inexplicably) talked to him for a minute or two at our front door and he repeated his name (which she doesn't remember) as he left, so she'd tell us who he was when we got home. He did nothing inappropriate but it occurs to me to ask my neighbors (2800-2900 Burling/Oakdale?) if they encountered this guy and if anything seemed fishy about him...not election season, for starters!? (Yes, we've had a long talk about the fact that we aren't obligated to talk to people, but that ship has sailed for now.) Not 100% sure what I'll do if people say yes, they saw him and he seemed worrisome, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

Hi, I posted a similar post in here a few days ago. It was an odd pitch- I'm not keen on door-to-door solicitors anytime but this guy showed up and had no literature or anything and just said, "Are you too cool to vote for me?" As I was barely holding the door open, since I was hesitant in the first place. And when I said, "Vote for what?" He said he was running to be a mentor for inner city kids? He didn't mention any organizations or have anything even resembling something legitimate which was a big red flag and then I just said, "We don't allow solicitors." And politely said goodbye. It just seemed fishy and better safe than sorry. 800-900 block of Roscoe street.

Old Dental Office at Hawthrone & Broadway

Just curious, anyone know why the building has a city notice that says "NO ENTRY?"

Seems like that business had been struggling since the root canal patient died a few years ago.

And over the summer, I remember looking at the building from El Mariachi. Part of the roof seemed to really be sagging.
