I can't believe my husband hasn't posted to this thread yet! Unbelievable. I will have to call his attention to it. :-D
I wouldn't want to throw his hat in the ring without telling him, but he can out-cook anyone I know with meat on a grill, and I don't even eat meat!

If there was a seafood cook-off, I'd be right there, BTW. Just an idea...

  • kenji my email is: chicagokenji @ gmail

    Bring him on, Babette!

Don't forget the date is also Father's Day.

Also...it's a team so if you joined him you can rest assured your seafood would get critiqued if you were interested, although we only have awards for chicken and pork spare ribs.

I need a dining area that can contain a 54” table. On-premise laundry, dishwasher and adequate storage space is a plus. Small building…2-3 flat or apartment in a house, by owner is preferred.

While I've looked at some nice places, they would be more appropriate for a person in their 20's with less furniture and different needs. Please watch for “For Rent” signs in your neighborhood. I am interested in the following zip codes: 60640, 60641, 60618, 60613,60202, 60201, 60614, 60610, 60625, 60657, 60659, 60646, 60630

Please pass this on if you know of someone who might have a place available. You can contact me via this post and I will respond asap.

Thanks!

  • Thanks for this - I had two guys at my front door (Warwick and Austin) about 2 weeks ago saying they could inspect my home for damage.

  • I have had this done before, and it wasn't fraud. If someone is going to inspect your home for damage, just make sure you're there for it to watch. Or insist that they NOT inspect before insurance gets there - any legit company should have no problem with this. If your area was hit by storms, the damage is there whether they look at it first or not...

Any industry has dishonest people working in it; giving a bad name to honest contractors isn't warrented because some are frauds.

Walmart is coming to Cicero/Diversey area?

Permit issued for renovation/alteration

Issue date April 5, 2012

.Estimated value $7,000,000
Application number 100433398
Work type Renovation / alteration

A reconfiguration of a building's interior or exterior. WALMART SUPERCENTER 4600 WEST DIVERSEY- EXISTING BUILDING REMODEL AND LOWER PARKING GARAGE- 116,720 SQUARE FEET-4600 WEST DIVERSEY .

I haven't gotten anything from the alderman about it. There is already a Walmart less than a mile south of here at Grand and Cicero. A comunity meeting would be nice to have on this. Traffic between Cicero and Kostener along Diversey is horrible as is.

I find it interesting that the people for this proposition include in their reasons how terrible the Wal-Mart on "Grand & Cicero" is (which is not the location) & the assumption that the one in The Hall would be any better. Lower prices always come at a high cost to someone.

Wal-Mart is not the direction the area should be leaning in. How will Big Lots compete? Discovery? Mattress joint? Aldi, even? Are the job losses in these businesses softened by the fact that they can try to work for Wal-Mart & hope for the best? It's easy to forget how the "mall" on North & Cicero dramatically shifted to closings after Wal-Mart opened in the area.

  • Jenn Henn Tell me everything.

Why so close to the WalMart on North Ave and Cicero?...
