Polling place electioneering laws....

What's the distance supposed to be for electioneering during a municipal elections? I just got back from the Murphy School and there were two big guys blocking my entry into the auditorium with hand bills for Rey Colon, and when I asked them if they were following the law to the letter instead of the spirit they blew up at me.

When Revere Park was my polling place I was regularly bombarded by individuals pushing their sample ballots on me. I was annoyed and offended by their suggestion that I take their ballot and use jt to fill in my blanks - like i can't make up my own mind. I wasn't hit with as much this time around at a different polling place but but could just be that it's a "smaller" election (less choices to strain my poor little brain *eyeroll*). I think it should be illegal for anyone to be on premises at all, it reeks of intimidation.

We thought the beautiful Winter Squash Raviolo. Mascarpone, Egg, Pecan, Brown Butter from A10 (1462 E. 53rd St.) looked mighty delicious, as did the toasted boudin with garlic rice, kimchi, pulled pork and a variation of sauce gribiche at Smalls Smoke Shack (4009 N. Albany Ave.).

Dog Problem

There's a man who lives on Richmond, almost on Waveland, who has two dogs who he lets run around the neighborhood. Of course they poop all over, which is bad enough. The problem is with the snow they can't get to the grass so the sidewalk is covered with their poop. The man happened to be outside, so I asked him about picking it up. He said he wasn't going to do it and didn't care if it bothered his neighbors. What do you do about someone like that?

I lost my husband to cancer 4 years ago and the pain is so deep, it still feels like yesterday. He was my best friend and I miss him terribly. I go on through life and I pretend I'm OK, but I'm really not. I carry this broken heart with me always and wonder if I will ever be happy again.

Can anyone recommend a therapist or a support group? Perhaps you have personal experience you can share? I'm in my early 50s and I know I've much life ahead of me, yet I can't seem to get back to living.

If you've been there and could share how you learned to live again, I would love to hear from you as well. Please feel free to write me privately if you would rather not post here. I would appreciate any thoughts you can share.

Thank you so much.

Having already said: "What works for one person, may not for another." - I still urge you to seek counseling, including "group". All who are in this type of group totally understand where you are coming from, including the intensity of emotions, like crying. Doing so in front of people is not a common thing for any of us to do, but the safety and comfort of the group setting can be quite therapeutic.
My suggestion of going to Gilda's Club was given because of the specific knowledge they have in dealing with cancer related issues, including the the grief one experiences loosing a loved one to the disease.
I wish you strength and courage in your journey.

Alex- I sent a couple of private messages to you. If you are looking for your first job, it may seem at little scary and/or out there. But my friend works with teaching high school kids about looking for work. I don't know how old you are from your post, but if you think you will listen to her advise, please let me know. All the best to you.

OMG I mean Advice. So sorry. Advice! Advice! Advice! Yes I do know the difference, just a bad typo. I swear I am linguistically pretty good. Typos...not so much.

The first apartment is a two bedroom with eat-in kitchen, and the second is a two bedroom with full dining plus sun room. One warning: I have 4 cats, and she has 1 cat, and we would only hire someone that has experience cleaning around them. Yes, they are all extremely friendly. Please provide pricing in your response. We are looking for a permanent cleaning lady to take care of both apartments on a Saturday once every one to two months. I would really prefer an independent person with decent experience. No large cleaning services, please. All cleaning equipment will be provided. Thank you!

  • I have over 7 years of cleaning and organizing experience. Please give me a call if the position is still available, I live off of Irving Park and Kildare. I would be happy to give you an estimate and I am very comfortable around cats. My number is 312-280-1792.
