Sorry homeowners you don't control Black Garbage Carts in the alley

I saw a no dog poop sign taped on a black cart in the alley in the neighborhood. Sorry folks but you don't own your city provided black cart, it is provided to you free of charge by the city. I saw a no dog poop sign taped on a black cart in the alley in the neighborhood. Sorry folks but you don't own your city provided black cart, it is provided to you free of charge by the city. Dog owners pick up their poop with a bag and drop into the cans in the alley. Usually the corner cans in the alley cans get the most poop. It's better to have dog owners comply with the law and properly pick up dog poop and dispose it in the cans in the alley than to just leave it there on the parkway. Living on a corner and dog poop landing in the cans behind your garage is just part of city living.

  • When all is said and done, can't we all just get along? If a responsible dog owner picks up his dog poop from your front lawn, ties up the bag securely, and puts in the garbage cart the city has provided to you what's the beef???
News flash...garbage smells...be it old and moldy food, spoiled milk or dog poop.

  • Timothy72 Resident

There is no beef, we are getting along, this is just a suggestion from a home owner and landlord.

Other people should keep in mind everyone does not like pets and we should be considerate towards others feelings.

FYI: The trash that smells badly in the trash receptacles is due to people who don’t put their trash securely in bags and they never wash out their trash receptacles.

Why haven't the street lights at the corner of Dakin & Springfield been replaced? They have been out for weeks now. It makes for a very dark area right in front of the park building and also the homes at this corner. When can we expect to see them replaced?

    https://www.facebook.com

  • This post is confusing. certainly the 45th ward alderman is not asking the EB community why the streetlights in his own ward aren't working?

    how did this get here?

I wish I had the opportunity to meet Arena here. If I did I would have expressed the following:
Get rid of the 5150 building plan. It is not at all virtuous for the residents who would move in there. Find a better location with easy access to a park and whose residents would feel like part of a neighborhood. 5150 has the Kennedy Expressway and various industrial buildings as their neighbors. If built, it will be near the busiest intersection in Jefferson Park. I would not move my children there. Nobody will choose to pay to live there. it will end up exclusively with voucher residents who are there because they have run out of choices not because they want to be there.
Listen to your constituents or you will soon be out of a job, Mr. Arena.

Will Fire-Damaged Abbey Pub Reopen? 'Back To The Bar' Airs Sunday

In a preview of the show, members of the Looney family, who own the Abbey, 3420 W. Grace St., walk the TV crew through the gutted bar.

Will Fire-Damaged Abbey Pub Reopen? 'Back To The Bar' Airs Sunday
IRVING PARK - It's been nearly two years since the Abbey Pub was closed following a fire and when, or whether, the popular bar and music venue will reopen remains unclear. Sunday's episode of Spike TV's "Back to the Bar" revisits the Abbey, which was featured on "Bar Rescue" in 2011 (perhaps not coincidentally, that "Bar Rescue" episode was re-aired in August).

  • Considering the "for lease" sign on the building, I'd say it's not going to reopen.

Found Keys

I found a keyring with 3 keys on it next to my car. Anyone know who lost them?

  • perhaps you can put your address down....

  • Christopher Huertas Christian, computer geek, family guy

I marked the post as 3700 block of N Sacramento, I think. I guess I should have put it in the post too.

Anyway, I found them at about 3745 N Sacramento. They may have been there before I parked (around 6 PM), but I actually found them later (around 8:30 or so).

  • I lost my entire purse with several different key sets. One set of keys had Master lock keys on them I believe there was just 4 keys on that ring. One set I believe had 2-3 keys on a big safety pin like keyring and I believe it also had a blue chinese good luck charm thing. Another keyring had 3- 4 keys with a red/white/blue/ ribbon. And then another plain keyring with just gold 2-4 gold keys on them.
